Today felt like it hadn't begun, really. Knuckles swore that 'minutes' ago he was polishing off breakfast and rushing out the door.. but here he was. The bus had lurched to a stop shortly after the echinda pulled its wire. Wasting no time, he hurried down the steps for the sidewalk, determined to get going. You're already late, after all. But Knuckles caught himself distracted, because instead of city 'stench' something sweet was clinging in the air. He took a moment to lookover a building neighboring the stop. Was it a restaurant? With a fragrance like that it had to be - but right then, Knuckles felt his eyes abruptly lock on something. Up there on restaurant's balcony was something peculiar, a girl. But hey she looks a lot like.. "Amy!" he exclaimed looking up to her.

When Amy's sweet treat and warm drink arrived at the table, she excited smiled and thanked the waiter she knew well from her months of coming here. The small pastry tart had neatly layered strawberries along the icing, trailing whip cream at each cut top of the berry. Amy eyed the treat for a moment of excitement before she was ready to enjoy it, but before she grabbed her fork, a familiar voice called to her from below. Her ears perked and a strike of surprise crossed her face. The pink hedgehog looked over the balcony to indeed see a familiar face standing there. "Knuckles?!" A wide smile grew on her face as she stood up from her chair and leaned on the white railing of the balcony.

" Hey Ames! I don't recall you being so tall," he teased from the sidewalk below. Knuckles grinned at her enthusiasm. How embarrassing. Still, seeing her here like this in a passing by was too familiar. Her being an adult was really the first thing Knuckles noticed, but it felt he was hollering at the same 'ol Amy. Tardiness was an afterthought, and even when the echidna remembered he bit his tongue: this was worth it. His faded brown jacked was paired with matching, well-worn boots. His quills were pulled back into a highset ponytail.
